John Ehde was born in Stockholm 1962. He studied and
graduated from The Academy of Music in Aarhus in 1984,
with debut recital in 1987. John Ehde completed his
studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Vienna in 1985-86
and 87-89. In this period, he was an assistant cellist in
the Wiener Philharmonic, where he still plays regularly.
From 1989 to 1999, John Ehde was the principal cellist in
the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra.
As a soloist with orchestra, he has performed the works
of, among others, Dvorak, Saint-Saëns, Tchaikovsky, Elgar,
Delius, Poper, Haglund (world premier performance 2001) |

He has been a member of the LINensemble since 1992 and
has about 40 world premiere performances and 10 CD
recordings (on the labels Dacapo and Kontrapunkt).
Member of Trio Slaato. Extensive tours and concerts for
children. First CD in 2002 (Ambitus). Long-term
partnership with the Swedish pianist Carl-Axel Dominique,
with concerts, radio- and CD recordings (mainly on Caprice
Records.).
Solo and chamber music concerts over most of Europe,
Canada, Hong Kong and Vietnam. |

Since 2001, John has been a teacher of cello and chamber
music at the summer course in Berg, Sweden, which is
directed by Karl-Ove Mannberg. Since 2006, John Ehde has
been teaching cello at the Academy of Music, Malmö. As
conductor and leader of the popular Children’s Concerts,
he has visited amongst others, The Royal Philharmonic
Orchestra, Stockholm, Norrköping Symphony Orchestra,
Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, Aalborg Symphony Orchestra,
South Jutland Symphony Orchestra, Singapore Symphony
Orchestra and Västerås Sinfonietta.
