Jesper Juul was born in 1973 in
Thisted. During his education at the Academy of Music in
Aarhus and later in Paris, Chicago and Copenhagen, he was
selected to play in the World Orchestra, the EU orchestra
and the World Philharmonic Orchestra.
Jesper Juul made his debut in 1998 from the
Royal Danish Academy of Music, and since 1996, he has been
the principal trombonist of the Danish National Symphony
Orchestra, as well as a member of Athelas Sinfonietta
Copenhagen.
Jesper has won, or been prize winner in all
International competitions in which he has participated,
including ARD-München, CIEM-Geneve, Nordic Soloist
Biennale, Juventus-France and TIJI-European Broadcast
Union. In the 2000/2001 season, Jesper Juul was
appointed ”Danish Radio Classical Music Artist of the year.”

Jesper Juul has performed as soloist with many
orchestras, including the Danish National Symphony
Orchestra, Südwestrundfunk Sinfonie-orchester, Suisse
Romande, Bayericher Rundfunk, Aarhus Symphony Orchestra,
Trondheim Symphony Orchestra and Athelas Sinfonietta.
Jesper has been very active in performing new Danish
music for trombone, and has already premiered many new
works for trombone, in different constellations.
In recent years, Jesper Juul has become more
and more active as a conductor. After he was a prize
winner at ”European Conductors Competition” in Birmingham
2000, he has had many interesting jobs, conducting for
example the Danish Radio Sinfonietta, Athelas Sinfonietta,
Danish National Symphony Orchestra, South Jutland Symphony
Orchestra, Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, Copenhagen
Philharmonic Orchestra and Aarhus Sinfonietta.

For 7 years, he was the conductor of Lyngby- Taarbæk
Brass Band, with whom he won numerous competitions. In May
2003, Jesper won ”The Second European Conductors
Competition”, and thereafter became a student in the
Conductors’ Class at the Royal Danish Academy of Music.
Future engagements include Aarhus Symphony Orchestra,
Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra, Aalborg Symphony
Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of Storestrøms Amt and
others.
Furthermore, Jesper Juul has been active as a
teacher at the Academies of Music in Copenhagen, Malmø,
Aarhus and Esbjerg.
Jesper has received many prizes and scholarships for
his work, including the Fritz Bush scholarship, and
support from Børge Schrøders Fund and Erda & Chr.
Schrøders Fund.
